The play «White passing» by Sarah Kittler is extremely fragmented. I’ve cut up the text to get a better understanding of its structure. As a result, I ended up with a sort of score, which brought me to a visual simplification. To avoid overloading the stage I decided to restrict myself to 3 main elements, which would allow various compositions:
1. The room
2. The house
3. The additional house level/facade
All 3 elements are built with «forced perspective», which creates a visual illusion of depth. Besides an aesthetic quality, it represents a metaphor of a missing home - forcing a foreign city to become native. Another stage element is a firework-shaped lamp. It serves as the main light source of the stage, and illustrates the not (yet) celebrated birthday, but its anticipation.
